News about Scients’ innovative data storage technology

11/02/2020 becomes an important date for Scients because that was when XMem’s patent application was accepted (a Notice of Allowability was published). In November 2018, the first electronic circuit of an innovative memory system was born in the Scients Instrumentation Laboratory (Igarassu, Brazil), which can store data with values up to 40K in a single transistor. By the way, depending on the way the data is processed, values of up to 200K can be stored in a single device. In 2019 Scients filed a patent application for this technological innovation, which could redirect data storage systems in the near future. End of 2019 the patent examiner pointed out 2 deficiencies in Scients’ patent application. The first was related to the formatting of the text; the second concerned the object requested with the title of the invention. In fact, X memory already exists; this term is associated with Apple’s iPhone 10, and it has absolutely no correlation with the new technology. Thus, Scients starts to name the invention as XMem™, suggesting that X is a numerical data that can be stored between 0 and 200K, for example, and also represents the technique. The data is stored by a technique still in patent confidentiality and therefore some details can only be transferred to future partners. Actually, the first circuit of this new memory system is already in the image of the Scients website, posted on 12/18/2019, and the technical staff of Scients intend to go to DSE2020, Tokyo, in April to present a prototype to the scientific technical community. Those interested in any information about the technology and / or partnership with Scients can send an email to scients.br@gmail.com, in attention to Luiz Santos (Scients CTO).
